The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office has identified the man whose body was pulled from the ocean off Turtle Bay Resort Friday as 47-year-old Roger Carasso of San Rafael, California. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

Hawaii will receive a total of $11.62 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to aid the state's homeless and housing programs, U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz said Monday. Forty-five local programs were awarded funds provided through the HUD's Continuum of Care Program.The City and County of Honolulu will receive the largest amount, a total of $7.06 million for 10 housing and homeless programs, followed by the state Department of Human Services, which will receive $1.57 million for 14 programs.

EMS treated eight patients at about 1:20 p.m. Six students, girls and boys 9 and 10 years old, were taken to a hospital. All the patients were in stable condition, but complained of a variety of symptoms, including headaches and nausea possibly from a chemical odor.

The couple passed the sign while they were en route to the small village of Te Anau where they spent eight days hiking in Fiordland National Park.
