Robert Kapopolu Jr., 58, of Waianae died of multiple blunt forces injuries Tuesday at the Waianae Comprehensive Health Center where he was taken in extremely critical condition. Emergency Medical Services said the 58-year-old man was found lying on Farrington Highway near Kaupuni Street near the Waianae Taco Bell after an apparent hit-and-run accident.

Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha has called off a meeting set for Thursday with several members of the Hawaii Women's Legislative Caucus and three women members of the Honolulu City Council. The group called for the meeting in response to the release of a surveillance video last week that showed a Honolulu Police Department sergeant allegedly brutally beating his girlfriend in a Waipahu restaurant.

In addition to Bill 42, the so-called sit-lie bill for Waikiki, Caldwell on Tuesday signed Bill 43, prohibiting urinating and defecating in public places in Waikiki. He also signed Bill 46, which bans urinating and defecating in public in all other parts of Oahu except the downtown-Chinatown area, which is covered by a state law.
