North Korea Responds to Trump's Cancellation of SummitNewser — Evann Gastaldo
Despite President Trump canceling his planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un Thursday, North Korea says it is still willing to proceed with the sit-down.
"We reiterate to the US that we are willing to sit face to face at any time and in any way," said a top official at North Korea's Foreign Ministry in comments that the country's state-run media published Friday, per CNN.
Calling the state of the US-North Korea relationship "disgraceful," the official said Trump's cancellation "is a decision that is not in line with the wishes of [those] who hope for the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula as well as the world. ... Our goal and will to do everything for peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and [for] mankind remains unchanged, and we are willing to give time and opportunity to the US, always with a big and open mind."
