The car then turned into Victoria Street where it hit two parked cars and a brick fence, killing the male driver.Assistant Commissioner Fryer said his officers complied with the force’s no-pursuit policy and it was a “conscious decision” of the driver to attempt to flee the intercept. He said the incident took roughly 10 to 15 seconds between the intercept and the crash.“The male driver made a conscious decision to drive at reckless speed, we believe there was no seat-belt worn and there was alcohol involved and unfortunately it had fatal consequences.”He said the driver was “at least” double the speed limit, driving at 120km/h.An investigation, overseen by Professional Standards Command, will be conducted according to normal procedure, police confirmed.
