Apple Cider Vinegar Linked to Losing Weight, Study Claims Besides being a tasty salad dressing, research says the vinegar has multiple health benefits. According to a 2018 study, subjects who added it to their diet lost more weight than those who didn't. The analysis is in the 'Journal of Functional Foods.' Monash University professor Sapha Shibeeb says weight loss results from the vinegar are modest. She adds that exercise and controlled calorie intake is needed as well. Shibeeb explains that the vinegar may help with controlling one's hunger before dinner. She says that consuming the liquid before the evening meal may make you feel fuller and halt overeating. Daily, Shibeeb advises consuming no more than three tablespoons of vinegar along with water. According to a 2004 analysis found in 'Diabetes Care,' apple cider vinegar can also help control blood sugar. In the study, subjects with diabetes drank 1.5 tablespoons before a meal with high calories. Compared to a group that took a placebo, those who drank the vinegar had lower blood sugar shortly afterward. Another study from 2019 in the 'International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences' showed similar results. Though vinegar can assist with diabetes treatment, health experts say you should not abandon any medications.
